PROJECT ELEMENT
DESCRIPTION
Project Element is a first person RPG prototype with branching dialog paths and multiple endings that are dependent on player actions, and choices,. The game has action oriented combat with multiple weapon options and a magic system. It also features a character creator will determine the players starting stats, and gear. The players stat allocations will determine what dialog options are available to the player as well as how effective the player is in combat.
ROLE: DESIGNER AND PROGRAMMER
This game was a solo project where I handled all programming and design elements. The game was developed in Unity using C#. Art assets are not my own work but were integrated into the project from various different sources. The project took a month of development time to fully complete, as showcased in the trailer.
During the project, I developed an asset creation utility using Excel, C#, and Unity scriptable objects. This tool allowed objects like character classes and weapons to be created, modified, and balanced outside of Unity within Excel, and then imported into the project. I designed the questline and narrative with events that take into account player dialog choices and actions. The NPC AI also responds to theses dynamic actions, and will take into account if the player has for example killed an NPC that they are friendly with. These system all allowed for this prototype to showcase a quest with three unique outcomes based on player decisions.
